Comperative UX Analysis

Advertising

  • Good UX website:

http://www.mercedes-benz.ca

Appropriate structure, skeleton, surface of the site. Easy to navigate and land on the page with necessary information within one or two clicks (official dealers locator, models selector, existing customer care and support, etc.) More appealing images, less text. People like visual content.

  • Bad UX website:

http://divacup.com

This product line is on the shelves in major drugstores in USA and Canada but yet the website does not look appealing. There is a structured navigation, but user can easily get bored and leave the site as there is a lot to read. Bright pink colour is a big time distraction and still the site looks plain and tasteless. For this specific product instead of a lot of text that is not engaging, more interactive materials simple yet engaging will present the product as the best choice. The product may be a good alternative but the website does not advertise it the best way, does not motivate to make a purchase.

Entertainment

  • Good UX website:

http://www.peoplestylewatch.com

A straightforward entertainment website. Clear navigation, minimalistic design. Functional, easy to switch between related posts, news and navigate through the pages. Makes user easily dig in the news and spend a lot of time browsing the website.

  • Bad UX website:

http://perezhilton.com

Does not have proper and structured navigation. Exaggerated use of fonts and colours. Difficult to understand the news consistency, relevancy to each other. A lot of visual content is of a low quality.

Online store / online shopping

  • Good UX website:

http://www.zappos.com

Well structured and planned. With a enormous database of goods it is easy to filter, search, adjust the search requirements, easy to sign in, easy to find a 24/7 customer service phone number. Flawless shopping experience, quick check out. Major color of the site is blue that does not distract or make eyes tired.

  • Bad UX website:

http://aptei.com/shop

Clearly not only an online store, but online shopping is available at this website. Website has not been updated for quite a long period of time, I assume since 2005 when the website was made. Impossible to find or navigate to the shopping page from the home page http://www.aptei.com Unclear and small images. Because the website looks outdated, the whole shopping experience may give a sketchy feeling as there is no customer support or the phone number customer can call if there are any questions about the order.
